Λίγα λόγια για το Arnhem (η περιοχή όπου βρίσκεται ο ζωολογικός κήπος)

GR:  Το Άρνεμ είναι η πρωτεύουσα της επαρχίας του Gelderland. Είναι μια πόλη στην ανατολική Ολλανδία. Η πόλη του Arnhem έχει 150.000 κατοίκους. Το Arnhem βρίσκεται στις όχθες του ποταμού Κάτω Ρήνου (Nederrijn). Η πόλη είναι διεθνώς γνωστή για τη Μάχη του Άρνεμ κατά την περίοδο του Δεύτερου Παγκόσμιου Πόλεμου. Τον Σεπτέμβριο του 1944 προσγειωθήκαν στο Arnhem οι συμμαχικές δυνάμεις για την επιχείρηση “Market Garden” η οποία ήταν η μεγαλύτερη επιχείρηση στην ολλανδική επικράτεια κατά τη διάρκεια του Β ‘Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου.

Τα περίεργα ψάρια

[..] Χάρη στην τοποθεσία του στο νότιο άκρο του Veluwe, το Arnhem διαθέτει πολλά μεγάλα πάρκα. Τα πάρκα μέχρι τα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα ανήκαν σε μεγάλο βαθμό σε πλούσιες οικογένειες. Στο Άρνεμ βρίσκεται επίσης ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα αθλητικά κέντρα της Ολλανδίας, Εθνικό Αθλητικό Κέντρο Papendal. Χάρη στην κεντρική του θέση στην ανατολική Ολλανδία, το Arnhem βρίσκεται σε ένα κομβικό κυκλοφοριακό σημείο. Από εδώ περνάνε δρόμοι, ποτάμια και σιδηρόδρομοι.

Burgers' Ocean shows life the way it is at a coral reef in the Indo-Pacific Ocean, one of the richest areas of species in the world. In the otherwise rather poor food supply of the warm seas, life concentrates around the reefs. Because there are so many species of life the ecological niches are narrow, which means that every species has its own speciality. Special colours and strange shapes help the countless fish species recognise their own kind. To people the amazing patterns and bright colours are a joy to look at!

  Το θεματικό πάρκο Ωκεανός μας  παρουσιάζει πως ειναι η ζωή σε έναν κοραλλιογενή ύφαλο στον Ινδο-Ειρηνικό Ωκεανό, μία από τις πλουσιότερες περιοχές των ειδών στον κόσμο.  Επειδή υπάρχουν τόσα πολλά είδη ζωής, κάθε είδος έχει τη δική του ταυτότητα. Ειδικά χρώματα και περίεργα σχήματα βοηθούν τα αμέτρητα είδη ψαριών να αναγνωρίσουν το δικό τους είδος. Για τους ανθρώπους τα εκπληκτικά σχέδια και τα φωτεινά χρώματα είναι μαγευτικά!

ΕΝ:  Exploring the tropical coral reef

Exploring the tropical coral reef starts at the little beach of a tropical lagoon where the water is still quite shallow. Following the path, you go down below the water surface. Through a gap in the reef with mysterious murene fish you come to the coral reef. After a trip to the night-time reefs you look across the edge of the coral reef through an enormous panoramic window into the open ocean's water and find yourself eye to eye with various types of sharks. 

GR:  Εξερευνώντας τον τροπικό κοραλλιογενή ύφαλο

Η εξερεύνηση  ξεκινά από την μικρή παραλία μιας τροπικής λιμνοθάλασσας όπου το νερό εξακολουθεί να είναι αρκετά ρηχο. Ακολουθώντας το μονοπάτι, κατεβαίνετε κάτω από την επιφάνεια του νερού. Μέσα από ένα μονοπάτι στον ύφαλο με μυστηριώδη ψάρια φτάνετε στον κοραλλιογενή ύφαλο. Περπατάτε στις σκοτεινές σπηλιές γεμάτη δροσιά  και στο βάθος του τουνελ  γινεστε θεατης ενπς τεραστιου πανοραμικου παραθύρου. Εκει  θ δείτε σαλάχια, καρχαρίες και τα φανταστικά ψάρια. Στο τέλος συνειδητοποιείτε ότι βρίσκεστε κάτω απο το σπίτι των ψαριών.

ΕΝ:  The largest living coral reef

The largest living coral reef in aquariums outside of Australia is at Burgers' Ocean. The ecosystem of the coral reef is accurately copied here, which is not at all easy, because corals and anemones make extremely high demands on water quality, the water's flow intensity and the light fall.

GR:   Ο μεγαλύτερος κοραλλιογενής υφαλος

Ο μεγαλύτερος κοραλλιογενής ύφαλος απο το ενυδρείο της Αυστραλίας βρίσκεται στον ωκεανό του Burgers. Το οικοσύστημα του κοραλλιογενή υφάλου αντιγράφεται με ακρίβεια , κάτι που δεν είναι καθόλου εύκολο, επειδή τα κοράλλια και οι ανεμώνες καθιστούν εξαιρετικά υψηλές απαιτήσεις στην ποιότητα των υδάτων, την ένταση της ροής του νερού και την πτώση του φωτός.

The largest waterfall in the Netherlands

ΕΝ:Good detectives will discover colourful birds, lizards and even kalongs. Across from the largest waterfall in the Netherlands live the manatees, but also the capybaras and aardvarks will not go unnoticed. Burgers’ Bush is a true paradise for adventurers and photographers!

GR:  Σαν καλοί εξερευνητές θα δείτε πολύχρωμα πουλιά, σαύρες ακόμη και νυχτερίδες. Ένας μεγάλος τεχνητός καταρράκτης στις Κάτω Χώρες θα ηχήσει στα αυτιά σας. Ένας πραγματικός παράδεισος για τους περαστικούς και τους φωτογράφους!

Multiple species

ΕΝ:    Multiple species of reptiles run loose in Burgers' Bush, but to discover them you will have to search, or just be lucky. You may also come across about forty different tropical bird species. And who knows, maybe you will see active aardvarks! Generally these African animals are primarily active at night. However, even catching a glimpse of one stretched out and sleeping relaxed on its back is quite special.

GR:  Μπορεί να συναντήσετε περίπου 4διαφορετικά είδη τροπικών πτηνών. Και ποιος ξέρει, ίσως θα δείτε ενεργούς αχλαδιές! Γενικά, αυτά τα αφρικανικά ζώα είναι κυρίως ενεργά τη νύχτα. Ωστόσο, ακόμη και η πρόσκρουση ενός τεντωμένου και ύπνου χαλαρή στην πλάτη του είναι αρκετά ξεχωριστή.

Park

ΕΝ:   Burgers' Park

Upon entering Burgers' Zoo, your travels start at the penguins' section of the park. There is always something afoot at the approximately 60 black-footed penguins at Burgers' Zoo. The call of this bird that lives in a colony sounds somewhat like the braying of a donkey. When two birds standing close together start calling, it probably concerns a couple that is confirming their bond together this way.

GR:   Κατά την είσοδό σας στο ζωολογικό κήπο του Burgers, τα ταξίδια σας ξεκινούν από το τμήμα των πιγκουίνων (στα δεξιά σας). Οι φωλιές και οι μινι καταρράκτες γεμίζουν απο τους 60 πιγκουίνους. Όταν δύο πιγκουίνοι που στέκονται κοντά μαζί και  αρχίζουν να ''φιλιούνται'', επιβεβαιώνουν με αυτο τον τρόπο τον δεσμό τους.

Rimba

ΕΝ:  Burgers’ Rimba

Burgers’ Rimba offers a trip through the Malaysian tropical rain forest! In this world we take you through an area of nature that has a wealth of animal species. The Malay Sun bears can actively look for tasty bites, while the siamangs and pigtail macaques curiously explore their surroundings. Close to them you will see various deer and bantengs, the impressive Asian bovines. At Burgers' Rimba you can see the bantengs cooling off in the water reservoir during hot summer weather. Also the plants in the water reservoir are considered a delicious snack.

GR:  Φτάσαμε στη Μαλαισία και συγκεκριμένα στην περιοχή Rimba (τροπικό δάσος). Διάφορα ελάφια, ταρανδοι και εντυπωσιακά ασιατικά βοοειδή. Τα φυτά στη δεξαμενή του νερού θεωρούνται νόστιμο σνακ.

High up in the trees

ΕΝ:  In the trees you find the Siamangs that avoid the ground. Also in the Rimba they can always be found high up in the trees. Daily the Siamang family calls out their loud territorial song. Male and female sing in duet, each with their own melody. When they call out their throat pouches are inflated like a balloon. This way the sound is significantly louder. Our siamangs can even be heard all the way in the parking lot!

GR:  Το μέρος οπου οι Σιαμάνγκ (Επιστημονική ονομασία: Symphalangus syndactylus) βρισκονται στα δεντρα και οχι στο εδαφος. Όταν ειναι έτοιμα να φωναξουν ο λαιμος τους σαν ένα μπαλόνι. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο ο ήχος είναι πιο δυνατός. Τα Σιαμάνγκ μπορούν να ακουστούν ακόμη και σε όλο τον χώρο στο χώρο στάθμευσης!

Then ... suddenly you face a tiger

ΕΝ:  While you follow the path, you go underground where you encounter pythons and lizards. Once above-ground again curious langurs and gibbons swing in the trees. Then ... suddenly you face a tiger! A trip that takes you through a new world filled with surprising discoveries.

GR:  Ενώ ακολουθείτε το μονοπάτι, πηγαίνετε κάτω από τη γη, όπου συναντάτε πύθωνες και σαύρες, ενω πανω απο τη γη βρισκονται τίγρεις και αλλα αιλουροειδή.

Mangrove

ΕΝ:  Burgers' Mangrove

Worldwide the mangroves are threatened due to intensive prawn farming and the explosive growth in population. Because of this large sections of mangrove are disappearing, even though mangroves have an essential function in nature. Royal Burgers' Zoo wants to create awareness in its visitors and is building the world's largest covered mangrove with an area of over 3,000 m² in Arnhem.

GR:  Μαγκρόβια δάση
Σε όλο τον κόσμο, μαγκρόβια δάση απειλούνται, λόγω της έντονης καλλιέργειας γαρίδας και της εκρηκτικής αύξησης του πληθυσμού. Αυτοι οι 2 παραγοντες συμβαλουν στη μειωσει αυτων των δασων οπου συμβαλουν με τον δικο τους τροπο στη φυση. Ο Ζωολογικός Κήπος του Royal Burgers  εφτιαξε ενα δικο του δασος, το μεγαλύτερο καλυμμένο μαγγρόβιο στον κόσμο 3.000+ τ.μ. στο Arnhem, με σκοπό να προβληματίσει τον επισκέπτη.

Desert

ΕΝ:   Burgers' Desert

From the Bush, close to the aardvarks, is an underground tunnel of adventure, which leads to Burgers' Desert. The tunnel is made to look like a deserted mineshaft. There's a lot to be discovered for young and old adventurers, for example a gold-vein, fossils, minerals, crawling spaces and short-cuts and even a stalactite and stalagmite cavern. A few animals that like darkness, also live in special quarters in the tunnel. For example, in the cavern with the stalactites and stalagmites swims a school of blind cave fish. Because these fish lived in dark caves for many generations their eyes are no longer functional.

GR:  Έρημος Burgers
Φτανουμε στο τουνελ-συραγγα της ερήμου. Ερημωμένος. Υπάρχουν μικρά τούνελ τα οποία περιμένουν εμας να τα εξερευνήσουμε (προσωπικά δεν εξερεύνησα κανένα τούνελ. Ο λόγος ήταν ότι η θεία Σοφία είπε πως αν φτάσω σε αδιέξοδο θα ημουν σαν φυλακισμένος). Υπάρχουν πολλά που πρέπει να ανακαλυφθούν απο τους νέους και ηλικιωμένους επισκέπτες, όπως για παράδειγμα φλέβες χρυσού, απολιθώματα, ορυκτά, σπίτια και λιγο πριν την έξοδο θα περάσετε απο μεγάλους σταλακτίτες. Μερικά ζώα, βρίσκονται σε ειδικές μικρες προθήκες. Για παράδειγμα, στο σπήλαιο με τους σταλακτίτες και τους σταλαγμίτες κολυμπά βρίσκονται τραντούλες, αραχνοειδή και ψάρια. Επειδή αυτά τα ψάρια ζούσαν σε σκούρες σπηλιές για πολλές γενιές τα μάτια τους δεν λειτουργούν πλέον.

Between the rock crevices

ΕΝ: Almost at the Desert, you will see the homes of a number of smaller desert inhabitants between the rock crevices. These are the species that hide in the cracks and crevices of the rocks during the day, when it is either too hot or not safe to be outside. Here live, amongst others, the bird spiders and milk snakes. The milk snakes are a perfect example of mimicry: these non-poisonous snakes mimic the poisonous coral snake's colour. Also the low-energy African cave cricket, which in the wild almost solely feeds on bat poop, surely deserves a moment of attention from the visitors.

GR:   Στην έρημο με τους τεράστιους ογκόλιθους και τους κάκτους νιώθεις τη ζέστη της ημέρας.Ειναι ενα μικρο θερμοκήπιο.  Εδώ ζουν, μεταξύ άλλων, αράχνες, πουλιά και μικρά φίδια. Τα φίδια αυτά είναι δηλητηριώδη φίδια. Υπάρχει και η αφρικανικη σπηλια οπου ζουν αποκλειστικά νυχτερίδες.

The Mexican-American rock desert

ΕΝ:  A few animal species are easy to find in the Mexican-American rock desert of Burgers' Desert. Among these are the collared peccary (Pecari tajacu) and the family of bighorn sheep on a rock plateau nearby. Also reptiles can be found in the Desert. There are Gila monsters, one of the very few poisonous lizards. Red diamondback rattlesnakes can also count on their venom. In addition, they have infrared senses, which is very useful for tracking warm-blooded prey in the dark.


GR:  Στο πάρκο αυτο ζουν ο Αγριόχοιρος Αμερικής (Pecari tajacu) και η οικογένεια των πρόβατων bighorn ή στα ελληνικά Μεγαλοκέρατο πρόβατο. Επίσης βρίσκεται και μία από τις ελάχιστες δηλητηριώδεις σαύρες όπως και κόκκινοι κροταλίες με το δηλητήριό τους. Οι κροταλίες έχουν την αίσθηση της υπέρυθρης ακτινοβολίας, η οποία είναι χρήσιμη για την παρακολούθηση θερμόαιμων θηραμάτων στο σκοτάδι.

Safari

ΕΝ:   Burgers’ Safari

Your visit to Burgers’ Safari brings you to the leopards and the lion family, which you can view from a wooden observation cabin. Burgers' Zoo has a long and successful tradition in the accommodation of lions. In the thirties of the 20th century the first lion accommodation without bars was built at the park. At the end of the 1960s the lions moved to the Safari area. Multiple large groups of lions were housed here and many little lions were born. Over a thousand lion cubs drew their first breath of air here at Burgers' Zoo!

GR:  Εδώ βρισκόμαστε ήδη στις λεοπαρδάλεις και την οικογένεια των λιονταριών, τα οποία παρακολουθούμε από μια ξύλινη καμπίνα παρατήρησης. Ο ζωολογικός κήπος Burgers έχει μια μακρά και επιτυχημένη παράδοση στη φιλοξενία των λιονταριών. Στην ιστοσελίδα του ζωολογηκού κήπου αναφέρουν πως "Πάνω από 1000 λιοντάρια είδαν το πρώτο φως της ζωής τους στον ζωολογικό κήπο του Burgers"!
